Nothing Changes

Between tutoring three kids under the age of 10 and living with four younger brothers, I feel like I’m pretty up-to-date on things kids like these days. Lately I’ve been hearing all about a show called Supa Strikas.

I’ve never actually watched Supa Strikas, but I’ve been reliably informed that it’s a show about football (soccer). I guess they have some sort of weird powers? All I really know is that sometimes there are “match days” which are a big deal, and I know what the theme song sounds like, because the 5-year-olds I spend time with like to repeat it.

According to wikipedia, Supa Strikas was a comic first, and apparently this football team has sponsors and product placement. Who needs real sports, when you can put all your money into fictional sports teams?

This is amusing to me because when I was a kid, there was another show on that was about football. It was called Galactik Football and it was about a team of humans that had some kind of weird power, playing against teams of aliens. It was very cool.

Actually, I didn’t really care about this show, I just watched it with my brother. But I will say that watching cartoons about sports is probably more fun than watching actual sports.
