Talking to people, to me, is basically terrifying. I don’t know why I have such a hard time with it, but it’s something I’m working on. Sort of. Slowly.
Some friends of mine are trying to challenge themselves to do one scary thing each week. This sounds like a cool idea, but I’m not ready to commit yet. So I came up with something more short-term to do instead.
I’m compiling a list of people that I think are cool, or who are doing work that I like or find interesting. I’m going to send them a message, whether through e-mail, twitter, facebook, or anything else, asking them one question. This question has to be fairly simple and straightforward, and can’t require paragraphs to answer. I’m not trying to take up too much of anyone’s time. I just want to get one question answered.

Coming up with an ongoing list of cool people is easy. Coming up with good questions is less easy. So, I’ll message each of them as I come up with a question, and report back here if I get any answers.
If you have any ideas for questions I could ask these people, or interesting people to talk to, let me know! Or, talk to them yourself and tell me how it goes. I’d love to hear about people’s experiences!
