David Madden is the founder of the National and International History Bee and Bowl. He won money on Jeopardy and decided to spend it on allowing young nerds to flaunt their nerdiness.
At the most recent Dubai competition I talked to him about volunteer opportunities and got his card, so I had plans to e-mail him anyway. All I needed to do was tack on another short question to start this project and see if he would answer, and he did!
Question: “How does it feel having your own wikipedia page?”
Answer: “[I]t’s been deleted twice and has come back again each time, so I’m just waiting for it to disappear again, haha.”
Simple as that.
I don’t know the rules of wikipedia, but I do wonder why the page has been deleted twice. But I will say that knowing I’ve had a conversation with a person that has their own wikipedia page is Very Cool. (Knowing that his wikipedia page isn’t quite up-to-date is cool, too.)
