MTM Day 8: Tuck Everlasting

Apparently this is a book, movie and now a musical. It was only on Broadway for a month, too. I didn’t know about any of that when I put it on the list. I just knew someone I follow on tumblr liked it a lot, so I added it.

And I liked it too! It was pretty cute, and the girl playing Winnie was amazing. (Was she also Small Alison from Fun Home? She sounds like Small Alison.) I don’t think I loved it as much as some other people, but I also think I would have been more emotionally invested if I’d been able to see it live. (What wouldn’t be better live? But nobody comes to Abu Dhabi!)

Anyway, it was cute. The part where a 100+-year-old teenager is singing about marrying an 11-year-old once she’s older is a little weird, buuuuut.

There were people in the comments for the video I was watching that were upset Winnie didn’t drink the water and talking about how sad it must have been for the guy, waiting for her and she never comes to find him. Guys…. she was 11 years old. She didn’t owe him anything. It sucks for him, yes, but she did the right thing. I don’t understand getting upset with her for that. (Besides if you’d like to see what could have happened if she’d made another choice, that’s what fanfiction is for.)
