MTM Day 11: Bonnie and Clyde

[Full list]

I couldn’t find anywhere to watch Spamalot (although I did find out it’s being performed in Dubai in May, so…. maybe that’ll be a thing). So, instead I settled on Bonnie and Clyde.

I liked this one a lot, actually! The music was nice and I loved the accents. Kind of a bummer in the end, but it was a fun show. I also really liked how they used the historical pictures and newspaper headlines projected onto the stage. I always love seeing how shows handle their stage design. Matilda’s was really cool, and I’ve been on the lookout for that ever since. People put a lot of work into that aspect of the show, I know.

Now I’ll have to read about the historical Bonnie and Clyde and see how it matches up. I have to say I love it that musical theater so often takes inspiration from history, even if it’s embellished. I keep saying you could write a history curriculum centered entirely around musicals. Maybe someday I’ll do that.

Next up: ………………………..Cats.
