An old musical that isn’t 2.5 hours long??? This gets points just for that.
I joke, but I appreciate that it didn’t waste any time. Pretty much everything that was in it served the story. Overall I enjoyed it. There were some things I wasn’t sure about. Of course any time there’s native Americans in anything (especially older things) I have to wonder exactly how accurate and how much say they got in how things were portrayed. Then there was the fact that she had to knowingly lose to get him to continue being interested in her. That’s…. unfortunate. And honestly, I don’t think they did a very good job portraying that it was a mutual thing. Especially early on, up until he had his song about her, I was never sure if he was just messing with her or not.
Anyway. I’m sure it would be made differently now, but that doesn’t make it bad.
(Also, I didn’t know this musical existed until many years ago when I saw a video of two characters from Transformers Animated set to a more modern cover of Anything You Can Do so there’s a fun piece of Daisy Trivia.)
Next (and last!): Urinetown
