It is time, once again, for Musical Theater Month! I’m going to watch (or listen to 28) musicals
It’s going to be an interesting February. I’m on the other side of the planet with two jobs, now, and I’m also spending 6 days on vacation visiting family, but I’m still excited to watch some musicals!
I had a little bit of trouble after last year figuring out which musical was my favorite, but over the past year a winner has emerged. I have listened to Hadestown many, many, many times. Second place as to the soundtrack of the past year was definitely the OBCR for Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, which is why I can’t put it on the list this year. I also had periods dedicated to Waitress, but Hadestown was the clear winner.
I’m running out of musicals I really know anything about, so the next few years are going to be pretty interesting. New musicals are being created every day, but maybe not 28 new ones a year that I have access to. Eventually I assume I’ll have to rewatch some, or dive more into opera or something.
As it is I’m rewatching 3, as well as watching a Disney musical and one requisite opera. I don’t know anything about a number of them. It’s going to be a month full of exciting discoveries and I’m ready to see some people break into song!
