It’s February again, which means I’m going to try to watch or listen to 28 musicals once again. It’s also the year that I’m starting to run out of obvious musicals to watch, which means I have to resign myself to watching Cats.
My requirements for what constitutes a musical here is pretty lenient. I’m watching a couple of Disney animated movies this month, and at least one opera. As long as there’s singing, I think it counts!
I started doing this project to educate myself, but today a friend suggested that other people might want to join me! So, I’m going to post the list, and every day I’ll make a blog post where people are free to comment and discuss the musical (and I’ll update this post with all the links). There’s absolutely no obligation involved to do the entire list. But, if something catches your eye, feel free to join in!
- The Little Mermaid
- Mary Poppins
- The Greatest Showman
- Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
- Firebringer
- Anastasia
- An American in Paris
- Tuck Everlasting

I might switch a couple of these around, but in general, this should be the order. If you see something you like, let’s discuss!
Apparently I do exist. Hooray for me! In the previous reply to your list, I have seen several. Saw The Music man as a stage show in Ohio many years ago with Howard Keel. Wonderful. Have you seen Show Boat? The music in that was fantastic. Also saw “Hello Dolly”. Can’t believe they were on stage 55 years ago. Time flies. Hope you have a month filled with music you hum all day and many laughs.

I can confirm that you exist! 😀
That’s so cool! I’ve barely seen any musicals in person. I haven’t seen (or even heard of) Show Boat, but I’ll put it on the backup list, in case I can’t find something on the main list. I saw the movie for Hello Dolly and I loved it, I can only imagine what it would be like seeing it on stage!
Thank you! I’m sure I’ll be humming nonstop! :>

I had no idea that they had made Amelie into a musical. And now that I know, I’m horrified. The film is such a thing of beauty and grace. It would be impossible to improve on it, so I am baffled as to why anyone would do anything to ruin such a a beautiful work of art.
